About Coaches

Coach Matt

Matt has been playing baseball since the age of 4 and represented Waipio Little League. As he got older, his passion for the game continued to grow and will forever be part of who he is. He feels grateful to experienced all the joy of playing at the collegiate level. Matt played three years at Central Arizona JUCO, one year at UH Manoa, then finished his career at Austin Peay State University. He gained so much love and appreciation for his past coaches that he is choosing to share what he has learned to the young athletes in the Hawaii baseball community as a BIG MAHALO for allowing him to play his heart out in his career.

Mattʻs dream is to one day open a Home Plate Hawaii baseball facility that includes multiple batting cages, fully equiped with the latest training technology, a half turf infield, and a weight room. The purpose behind this goal is to give Hawaiiʻs youth players all the tools they need to train harder and continue to fall in love with the sport, just like he did.

Coach Andy

Andy got into coaching because he sees it as a powerful way to impact the next generation, both on and off the field. Competitive team sports have taught him invaluable lessons, while also bringing lifelong friendships and unforgettable memories. For him, there’s no greater honor than walking alongside young athletes as they chase their dreams. He’s also passionate about making sure kids in Hawaii get the same exposure, opportunities, and coaching they deserve. Hawaii’s athletes are incredibly talented, and many have gone on to make a big impact at the collegiate and professional levels. Coaching is Andy’s way of giving back to the place that gave him so much.

Being trusted with young athletes is an honor Andy doesn’t take lightly. He knows they’re at a crucial stage in their lives, and the guidance they receive now can shape their futures. For Andy, coaching isn’t just about teaching skills—it's about helping these athletes grow into good teammates, friends, and leaders. He’s committed to making sure they leave the field not just as better players, but as better people.
