1
Hitting
Common Mistakes
-
Loss of posture - back shoulder dropping that causes an uphill swing
-
No timing mechanism and not knowing how a proper load should be
-
Long swing and not being connected - causes a loss of bat speed and power
-
No approach - going up to the plate without a plan and just swing
-
Not staying through the baseball at contact
How We Correct It
-
Initial swing evaluation
-
Building rotational power
-
How to load properly
-
Swing path consistency (one hand bats, extending through the ball, etc.)
-
Timing and vision (knowing when to load and identify different pitches)
-
Hitting to all 3 fields with bigger focus on hitting to the opposite side
-
Mental approach to hitting in certain counts
-
A fun competition to end the day!

Fielding
The Fundamentals
Many players of all ages spend a lot of time working on hitting and pitching but not so much fielding. Fielding and throwing is just as important as hitting and pitching. Becoming an elite defender makes a player much more valuable because defense wins championships.
Young athletes don't get enough instructions about fielding. Many coaches expect them to stay down and field ground balls, but not many know how to do it properly. That's where we step in! We also instill on players on how to deal with failures because at some point they will make an error guaranteed. HPH players will learn to cover when the ball is hit, how to turn a double play, how to attack balls at different angles, and how to field ground balls properly.
Included in every lesson:
-
Mechanics of throwing to improve accuracy and arm strength
-
Footwork drills to address the ball properly
-
Glove work focused on pressing through the ball
-
Footwork for double plays (feeding & receiving)
-
Footwork for back hand, fore hand, and slow rollers
-
Pre pitch routine and the mental side of fielding
3
Speed & Conditioning
Why Its Essential
-
All players must learn to have stamina for those short and quick burst of speed (unlike other sports that require long distance running)
-
The only way to get faster is by training fast!
-
Its common for plays to be out of outfielder's reach because they lack speed
-
You may be out of breath after hitting a triple
How We Train Better Athletes
-
Movement preparation to "get the body hot" helps to prevent injuries when training
-
Short and high intensity training
-
Sprint intervals at different levels/positions (one knee, on stomach, laying on back)
-
Lateral movement
-
Mobility drills for upper and lower half of body
